International Natural Sciences Tournament (INST) is a team competition for current undergraduate, Master’s students, and students planning to graduate in 2014. Students specializing in Natural Sciences or Engineering are welcome. The main goal of the competition is to teach university students to apply their knowledge to solve important scientific and industrial problems.

 

23.09.2014. Extramural round of Tournament is finished. We've got 37 applications. 10 - to International league, 27 - to Russian-speaking league. Experts are working on evalutation of your solutions. Be patient and look on our website for news. Results will be announced soon.

In 2014 intramural round of the tournament is divided into two leagues: International and Russian-speaking leagues.

Regulations for the International league:
Participations of the International league perform in English in intramural and extramural rounds of the Tournament. From 4 to 12 teams are going to participate in the intramural round of the International league. International league has a separate final round (for 3 teams) in English. Winner of the International league are rewarded with medals : team-winner is rewarded with a gold medal, in total a half teams which participated in the intramural round of the International league are rewarded with medals. Teams which would like to participate into the International league send solutions of problems of the extramural round up to 20.09.2014 (prolonged!) to the e-mail:tournament@chem.spbu.ru . Solutions of the problems of the extramural round is a document of a .doc format not more than 5 pages + multimedia-presentation (.ppt or .pptx) in English. Please, send solutions and presentations for each problem into the individual document. Regulation for the Russian-speaking teams: if your team isn’t pass to the International league by results of the extramural round, your solutions will be automatically sent in competition to the Russian-speaking league.
Team in the International league consists of 3-5 persons.

Regulations for the Russian-speaking league.

Participations of the Russian-speaking league perform in Russian in intramural and extramural rounds of the Tournament. Russian-speaking league has a separate final round (for 3 teams). From 12 to 20 teams are going to participate in the Russian-speakingl league. Team-winner is rewarded with gold medals, team which will come in a close second – with silver medals and team which will come in a good third – with a bronze medal. Teams which would like to participate into the Russian-speaking league send solutions of problems of the extramural round up to 20.09.2014 to the e-mail: tournament@chem.spbu.ru .  Solutions of the problems of the extramural round is a document of a .doc format not more than 5 pages + multimedia-presentation (.ppt or .pptx) in English. Please, send solutions and presentations for each problem into the individual document.
Team in the Russian-speaking league consists of 4-5 persons.

You may watch video from INST-2013: HERE is the presentation of one of the problems and HERE you may watch opponent work and polemics. These procedures make INST excellent experience for training your scientific project writing and skills of presenting projects in English (even if you're not native speaker)
